FAQs ~ Your Bridal Trial -
What to Expect & How to Prepare
-
The ideal time for your bridal trial is 3-4 months before your wedding day.
By this time, you'll likely have finalised key details like your dress, bridesmaids' outfits, and floral arrangements—these all shape your bridal beauty look.
-
Our bridal trials take place at the Beehive boutique salon, located at Out of the Blue, 36 Dalmeny Street, Leith. This charming studio space is part of an arts center, which Monica shares with other talented hair and makeup artists.
To ensure you have the best experience, we recommend booking your trial 3 – 4 months in advance.
Please note that Saturday slots are usually available only during quieter months, so it's a good idea to plan ahead!
-
A bridal trial typically lasts around 1 hour and 20 minutes. This allows time for us to discuss your vision, create your look step by step, and make any necessary tweaks to ensure you feel 100% confident.
-
Your bridal look is a collaborative process. We tailor your hair and/or makeup to reflect your style, wedding aesthetic, and how you want to feel on the day—whether that’s romantic, elegant, natural, or glam.
To help us create the perfect look, you can:
Bring inspirational images (Pinterest, Instagram although saving images from our pages is best as they're real life, we don't filter or edit them.
Show photos of your wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses.
Consider your wedding setting—indoor, outdoor, daytime, or evening lighting all influence the final look.
-
Skincare: A good skincare routine months prior to the trial will ensure your makeup looks beautiful.
Facials: If the budget allows, consider facials; Sharon can perform lymphatic drainage or dermaplaning, and I can recommend where to go.
Pre-wedding treatments: If you plan to get your brows shaped, lashes done, facial waxing, or a spray tan, schedule a test run before your trial to see the full effect.
-
Please come without makeup if possible, or wear your usual daily makeup (but please avoid waterproof mascara).
Choose a top that is similar in color to your dress and has a comparable neckline, as this helps visualize the final look.
Be sure to bring any accessories you plan to wear, such as a veil, hairpieces, or jewelry, so we can see how everything works together.
Your trial is not just about designing your look; it's also an opportunity for you to get to know us and ensure you feel comfortable with your chosen style.
We recommend planning a date after your trial. This allows you to fully enjoy your bridal glow and see how the look holds up in real-life situations.
-
We don’t offer trials until your wedding date is secured with us.
To secure your date, we take a £100 booking fee.
£70 of this is deducted from your final wedding-day balance, and the remaining £30 is retained as a non-refundable admin fee.
We’d love to hear about your wedding plans!
Our Bridal Trials are for Brides who have already booked their Wedding days with us. Don't hesitate to get in touch with us to enquire about our availability for your wedding day.
